Life Sciences Internship at a Water Environment and Urban System Laboratory

Current master's students interested in organic and analytical chemistry in the context of aquatic pollution are invited to apply for a paid internship. Participants will work at a water environment and urban system lab in Paris, France. The deadline is on Friday 15th January 2021.

The internship is provided by ErasmusIntern.org, a web platform where companies and organisations can offer their internship vacancies to individuals seeking international opportunities.

Participants interested in developing skills in chemistry and physics will work on a project that studies how micro-pollutants are retained in an aquatic environment.

The main objective of this internship is to set-up the most appropriate method to measure the biodegradation of organic micro-pollutants in a situation as close as possible to the field conditions.

After a review of scientific literature, the degradation kinetics of pollutants such as PAHs or bisphenol-A will be determined in reed planted columns using hydraulic regime comparable to that of that in situ.

Ideal candidates are in their second year of a master programme in engineering or chemistry.

Knowledge of urban hydrology, analytical chemistry and organic chemistry tools are necessary. Interns will receive a monthly compensation of €600.

Applicants should provide their CV and cover letter to martin.seidl@enpc.fr.

The deadline is on Friday 15th January 2021.

Main Criteria

Candidates should demonstrate at least B1 level skills in English and French. Applicants should be currently pursuing a master’s degree.

Good knowledge of analytical chemistry and organic chemistry tools in aquatic or porous environments is required.
