Ethical Journalism Program In Germany And Poland

Journalism students and early career professionals are invited to participate in a leadership and ethics program in Berlin and Poland. Over the two-week study program that will take place on 21 May – 4 June 2021, participants will examine the impact of technology on journalism and touch upon ethical leadership in media. The deadline is on 6 January 2021.

The Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) offers a unique historical lens to engage journalism, medical, seminary, business, and law students in an intensive course of study focused on contemporary ethics in their professions. FASPE Fellows are granted an all-expenses paid two-week trip to Germany and Poland to learn about the role of their chosen profession and to use that historic framework to explore the ethical issues facing their field today.

FASPE is an intensive, two-week study program in professional ethics and ethical leadership. Ethical Journalism program challenges its fellows to recognize their responsibility to act as ethical leaders in their careers in journalism and the media. Each year, FASPE Journalism awards fellowships to 14 to 16 journalism students and early-career journalists. Fellows spend two weeks in Berlin and Poland, where they visit key sites of Nazi history and participate in daily seminars led by specialized faculty. The program couples the power of place with academic rigor and many informal opportunities for creative exchange. Some of the topics examined include the impact of technology on journalism, the role of journalists in electoral politics and in holding power accountable, the nature and propriety of advocacy journalism, and more.

The deadline is on 6 January 2021.

Main criteria

FASPE Journalism applicants must be interested in journalism as a career and fit into one of the following two categories:

2) be working as a journalist with an undergraduate degree in any field received between May 2015 and May 2020 or a graduate degree in any field received between May 2019 and January 2021.
