Data Science Internship at Microsoft in Estonia

Current students enrolled in Engineering or a science-based university program are invited for a 12-week paid internship at Microsoft in Estonia. Internships are scheduled for summer 2021. Interns will join the Global Data Science team and contribute to work on Microsoft 365 products. The application process is ongoing.

Microsoft Global Data Science team in Estonia works closely with other International teams to help understand customers experience and satisfaction with the M365 products. The team builds models, runs experiments and completes deep analysis to understand how Microsoft can make the international customers experience better and more relevant to their market and the language in which they wish to use M365 products.

To be considered for an internship position, candidates need to be enrolled full-time as a student majoring in an applicable field. Currently Microsoft is looking for students with ultimate BA/MA graduation date in 2022, available to take on a 12-week summer internship in 2021. Perfect candidates are highly motivated and passionate Data Scientists eager to apply rigorous scientific methodology and algorithms to data in order to improve Microsoft’s devices, operating systems, and services. As a Data Scientist intern, you will help formulate approaches to solve problems using well-defined algorithms and data sources. You will incorporate an understanding of product functionality and customer perspective to provide context for those problems.

Main criteria

Interns should be currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s  degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Applied Sciences like Biostatistics, Physics, Chemistry, Computational Neurology with at least one semester/quarter/term remaining after internship.

Some Engineering experience using large data systems on SQL, Hadoop, etc. and a programming language proficiency is required. Some experience performing data analysis and applying statistics working with tools such as: Excel, R, MATLAB, AMPL, or SAS is necessary.
