Coachella 2022 Highlights

After two years of pausing because of the pandemic, the biggest music festival worldwide came back this year.

Unlike previous years, this year’s Coachella was held on two separate weekends, instead of three. On the first weekend of this festival, famous artists such as Harry Styles, and Doja Cat had stellar performances. Whereas, on the second weekend other names such as Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Swedish House Mafia left a mark.

The combination of art, music, and technology makes Coachella outstanding compared to other music festivals.

Harry Styles’ Performance

The first weekend marked the debut performance of Harry Styles at this festival. Once again he transmitted to the audience the new style of his music and performance. His music style and his outfit were inspired by the 80s artists such as ABBA and David Bowie.

He surprised his fans also with two new songs from his upcoming album. The songs are entitled “Boyfriend” and “Late Night Talking”.

What brought the audience to tears and made them jump was Harry’s duet with Shania Twain. Together they sang two of her hits, Man I Feel Like a Woman and Still the One.

Doja Cat Debuting as the Main Performer

Doja Cat was a part of Coachella back in 2019 when she shared the stage with Rico Nasty. Yet, this year she was selected as one of the main performers.

The singer-rapper performed some of her hits such as Woman, Say So, Streets, and Kiss Me More. She shared the stage with Tyga and Rico Nasty, singing some of their collaborations.

To surprise her fans even more she gave them a new snippet of her unreleased song called Shots. From the critics, her performance was labeled as stellar. She incorporated the styles of rap and hard rock while singing her hit Say So, which showed her vocal range abilities.

New Artist of the First Weekend: Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo sang for the first time at Coachella where he joined the stage with Daniel Caesar. The unique style of RnB incorporated with Latin vibes, made him get the attention of critics and the audience.

Together they sang their duet called Invincible. Apollo released this song in his late album called Ivory in February 2022.

Other than this, during the Coachella Pre-Party, Omar sang Killing Me, En El Olvido, and his duet with Ruel Want U Around.

The Iconic Performance of The Duo Called “Hizzo”

The audience was stunned by the performance of Harry Styles and the artist Lizzo. Lizzo was a guest of Styles’ on the second weekend of this festival. Both of them appeared in matching pink outfits that caught the eye of the fans. Being a crazy fan and pal of Harry Styles, Lizzo stated that she was over the hill when she found out they were going to perform together.

Together they sang One Direction’s hits called What Makes You Beautiful and I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

Billie Eilish Slaying the Second Weekend

Even though Billie Eilish sang during the first week, she was modest about her previous performance and wanted to do something better the following weekend.

Her performance consisted of a black outfit and childhood footage while she was singing Getting Older. On the second weekend, she chose to share the stage with two of her idols, her brother and the singer Hayley Williams.

Together with Williams, Eilish sang the song Misery Business. Whereas together with Finneas she sang the songs I love You and Your Power. She chose to include to the second weekend most of the songs that she sang on the first weekend.

The Weeknd’s Collaboration

The Weeknd’s performance was the one that will live forever in everyone’s memory.

He sang some of his solo projects such as I Can’t Feel My Face. Through this jam, he rehooked the audience after performing other collaborations that he has with the Swedish House Mafia.

Together they closed the festival until next year, with the song Moth to a Flame.

The New Artist of the Second Weekend: Conan Gray

Conan Gray is an American singer who became famous while doing covers on YouTube. This was his first time performing at the Coachella Pre-Party where he sang some of his new original songs.

The song that made the audience jump and be a part of an emotional rollercoaster is People Watching. He was praised for his vocal range and also his hot pink Valentino costume.

While attending Coachella, you’re exposed to every form of art, starting from music, architecture, and fashion. Going through the highlights of this year’s festival, you can notice the incorporation of these forms and their impact on the audience.
