An Opportunity For Female Reporters To Go To Rwanda/DRC And Uganda

The International Women's Media Foundation announced its cross-border reporting trips to Africa. First one to Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and second to Uganda. A group of female journalists will report on conservation and sustainable agriculture in Rwanda/DRC from January 26 – February 12, 2016. Concurrently, another group will cover themes of democracy and governance in Uganda from January 26 – February 8, 2016. The online application to take part in these trips will be open through October 3, 2015.

Apply for An Opportunity For Female Reporters

Here are the main criteria to participate in the program of an opportunity for female reporters:

  • All nationalities are welcome to apply, but non-native English speakers must have excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Applicants must be professional journalists with at least 3 years of professional experience in journalism working in print, broadcast, or digital media.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate support from an editor or have a proven track record of publication in prominent media outlets.

Reporting trips are fully funded. The IWMF arranges travel and in-country logistics for all fellows. The IWMF also covers fellowship-related costs within the framework of the reporting trip including travel, lodging, meals, and fixers/interpreters.
