Aga Khan Foundation Programme For Postgraduate Students

Aga Khan Foundation invites nationals of selected developing countries to apply for a postgraduate scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate excellent academic results and financial need. The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses. The deadline is on Wednesday 31st March 2021.

Established in 1967, the Aga Khan Foundation brings together resources to address the challenges faced by the poorest and most marginalised communities in the world.

Special emphasis is placed on investing in human potential, expanding opportunity and improving the overall quality of life.

 Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application.

Funding for PhD programmes is only provided for the first two years of study, after which the students are expected to find alternative sources of assistance.

Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.

Applicants should be prepared to be interviewed by local scholarship committees about their financial situation, their academic performance, extra-curricular achievements and career plans.

The deadline is on Wednesday 31st March 2021.

 

Main Criteria

The Foundation accepts applications from nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. 

Candidate should demonstrate consistent excellent academic records, financial need, and be accepted to a highly reputable university in a field of study relevant to the AKDN’s focus areas.

Preference is given to students under 30 years of age. Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.
