Escape From Prison – Movies

Not entirely traditional, today's movie tips are from the other side of the law. Films about escape from jails. They grab and keep your attention and are based on books or true events.

Escape from Alcatraz

Perhaps there is not one person on this planet who had never heard of the Alcatraz prison on an island in San Francisco. A film starring Clint Eastwood in the lead role of Frank Morris tells the story of the apparently only escape that ever happened from this prison. Three prisoners, including Morris conceived a truly admirable plan to flee. And despite the U.S. authorities having no knowledge of the whereabouts of the prisoners after their escape, it is believed their escape was successful.

Shawshank Redemption

Shawshank Redemption is an ageless evergreen film. Compares to the others films from this weekend movie tips, Shawshank shows some optimism and poetic justice. Perhaps that makes it a film I always worth repeating. Shawshank Redemption is also the only one from our list that is a fictional story, based on the novel by Stephen King.

Papillon

Papillon – a nickname given due to his large tattoo of a butterfly on the chest of Henri Charriére – who was sentenced in probably one of the worst prisons ever in the penal colony in French Guiana. Papillon wrote his experience in a book. Given the hard conditions and a few failed attempts at escape that hardened them further. Perhaps it raises the questions about the authenticity and at the same time keeps you glued to the screen.

Midnight Express

Even Though we recommended this film in one of our previous movie tips, the film was engaging enough to be repeated in this category.
